Hp Laptop Windows 7 Install

I don't understand - you don't purchase operating system discs separately when you buy an HP computer. The recovery discs need to be made using HP's recovery disc creator from within Windows or can be purchased later from HP. A Product Key is never needed when using HP recovery media. It sounds like someone sold you an extra retail XP operating system. It is always better to use HP recovery media but you can also start the recovery process (unless you destroyed the factory image on the hard drive) by pressing F11 (or F10 - it will say which key to press when you first start the machine) at computer startup. If for some reason you want to use this extra operating system, it would have come with its own Product Key. Please clarify exactly what you bought and why you aren't using the HP recovery process.

Canon Pixma Ip4300 Printer Drivers For Mac. Perhaps the separate disc was for an upgrade to XP Pro from XP Home which came preinstalled? Because I've been doing computer tech support professionally since Windows 95 and HP has never made you buy a separate operating system with their computers. At least not in the United States.

I can't say whether it is different in another country. You would also not get an error saying that the hard drives weren't detected because the necessary SATA drive controller drivers (which are missing in your retail XP Pro disc) would already be included in the factory image on HP recovery discs. Reinstall using HP's factory restore image which is on the hard drive OR contact them to purchase the correct recovery discs. Then if you want to upgrade to XP Pro with the extra disc you can.

You would then use the Product Key that came with *that* disc, not the one on your laptop's sticker. To start HP's recovery process press F11 or F10 as the computer is starting up. You will see a message as to which Function key is correct when the computer starts up. Otherwise contact HP tech support to clarify what you have and how to reinstall Windows.
