A few months back I had a similar problem on my office dekstop computer where installing QTP 11 with Java addin creates issues with IBM sametime meeting. I took the help of HP tech support to resolve the issue at that time. The solution was to rename a couple of system variables under System Properties/Advanced/Environment variables. The system variables are _JAVA_OPTIONS and JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS. I renamed them to _JAVA_OPTIONS_X and JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS_X.

I did the samething now and got ALM service running again. Can you please shed some light on what these environment variables are that QTP is adding and what are the consequences of renaming them. I know that QTP will not recognize a Java application if you rename these environment variables.
