Disable Snmp On Printer Port

Some of our HP printers are being duplicated or overwritten with a new serial number (it's always the MAC address). The name is always changed to np in the case of being overwritten (no idea where that's coming from). I manually put the serial number in and it will stick for several days worth of scans then it will get the serial and name changed again or a new duplicate record with a different serial number.

I'm not able to detect a pattern other than a duplicate record being made with a different serial or the existing record remaining but with a new name and changed serial number. The new serial number is always the MAC address. What might be causing this and what can I do about it?

I checked SNMP settings on the printers in question.they were set to 'Enable SNMP v1/v2 read-write access' with all the fields blank (Set Community Name, Get Community Name). I changed them to 'Enable SNMP v1/v2 read-only access (uses 'public' for the Get Community Name)' and will see if this helps. Also, is the scan range that encompasses the printers configured with the same SNMP credentials/community string that the printers are using? I also discovered that when the name was being changed it was the host name of the printer it was putting in. So I changed the host name on the printer config as well.
