I'm trying to get an old HP 650c DesignJet (C2859B) plotter to be recognized in Windows 10 (64-bit) and to be able to print a test page/plot successfully. Trying to avoid re-installing Win 10 32-bit to be able to load older 32-bit driver if I can locate the right one. Using a parallel to USB (2.0) cable I have tried: - Disabling driver signature and installing pl532en (using OEMSETUP), but get the 'not compatible with this version of Win 10' message.

USB shows as 'no printer' in Device Manager and as Other - IEEE device in another location. - Have tried a TP-Link TL-PS110P print server, but no luck finding the plotter. Seems like others have had success, but not sure what to try next. (Plotter works fine for my needs and I'm just trying to use it for draft plotting, etc. Hp Pavilion Dv9700 Recovery Disc Download on this page. ). Epson Draft Font Download on this page. Re-downloaded x64 XP/Windows Server 2003 (pl532.en drivers linked to in post titled 'HELP ME DesignJet 650C win-7 64-bit. Copied files from the ZIP folder to a temp directory.

Used TP-Link wizard to: Add New Chose 'not on list' Added local Created New as TCP/IP with IP for the plotter. Unchecked query for drivers. Php Mysql Multiple Checkbox Update.

Set Standard to Print Server (did not choose Custom) Chose Have Disk, chose OEMSETUP from temp directory Chose HP650C 2859b and named the printer. Warning from Windows that driver was unsigned. Continued anyway. Did not have to SHIFT + Restart to load an unsigned driver.

Finished the install (had to verify IP address for the port was correct. Printed test page fine. Printed sample image fine. Took a couple attempts, but it appears to be working. Thanks for the advice (above). You need to find the ip address of the tp link since using network is probably the best way.

Once you have the ip address of the tp link, then use that address to load the printer as a local tcp/ip printer where you add printer, local printer, next and on the port page click on the create port and in the drop down choose standard tcp/ip, next and then put in the ip address and then you get to the makers page and choose hp on the left and then start trying hp designjet gl2 drivers for any designjets listed. See if the link below helps. If you can not find the ip address then use the default ip address and adjust one of your computers to the same ip frame, go to web page and change ip address to one within your frame and then add the printer once you reset your computer back to regular ip address. Thanks for the useful information.

Some progress made. I've used the TP-Link install wizard to configure the print server with a static IP address.

After running Windows Update to get a 'better' list of HP-GL2 printers and install one of many, the plotter is activating. If I go ahead and print the Test Page, I either get 'indows Printer Test Page' with a line, then blank space, or a blank line with a small bit of garbage text and blank space. For the printers I've tried which didn't show garbage text, I tried printing a screenshot from Powerpoint. In each case the plotter prints solid black.

I don't suppose anyone knows of any HP-GL2 plotter drivers which might work better with the old HP 650c (I'm looking at the list from Windows Update)? Or, should any other settings be adjusted? (I've tried setting up as a local printer as LPT1:, New Port w/ TCP/IP set and Device Type as Print Server.also Device Type Custom.Raw or LPR with a queue specified. I see the 650c has 2 language settings (Lang=7586, HP-GL/2 or HP-GL/2.

Is one better to use (I'm assuming the 7586). Anything I can try in I/O Setup? It would help to know if I can make any setting changes before trying every HP-GL2 plotter that shows in the list one at a time.
